ISO 9001, AS9100 & Medical Certifications at CNC Titanium — What We Hold and What We Guarantee

Straight answer on certifications: CNC Titanium is an independent engineer without ISO 9001 or AS9100. Here's what that means for your part, and the guarantees we make in place of certification.

The short answer

CNC Titanium does not hold ISO 9001 or AS9100 certification, and we don’t claim implant-grade or flight-critical qualification. We’re an independent, engineer-owned shop, and we’d rather say so plainly than overstate our credentials. What we do guarantee — material traceability, inspection against your drawing, and honest scope — is spelled out below, and it’s exactly what most prototype and small-batch titanium buyers actually need.

Why we’re not a certified facility

Certifications like ISO 9001 and AS9100 belong to organizations — a quality management system that governs procedures, audits, and personnel across a facility. A one-person shop can’t meaningfully hold or maintain a corporate QMS the way a certified organization does, and claiming one would be misleading. If your part genuinely requires a certified supplier, we’re not the right fit, and we’ll tell you that up front rather than stretch the truth.

Material traceability. Every part starts from a known titanium grade, and a material certificate (MTR) is available on request so you can confirm the lot’s actual properties.

Inspection before shipping. Parts are checked against the drawing — dimensions and finish — before they leave. We hold to the print, not to a hopeful interpretation of it.

Defined scope. We machine prototypes and small batches for R&D, industrial, robotics, outdoor, and consumer applications, plus non-implantable medical device components and non-flight-critical aerospace test parts. The boundaries are intentional and written into each page.

ASTM standards & documentation

We machine titanium supplied to common ASTM designations, and the mill certificate (MTR) documents the actual designation and properties for your lot:

  • Bar, billet, and forgings per ASTM B348; sheet, plate, and strip per ASTM B265.
  • Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) — the standard structural alloy.
  • Grade 23 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI) — tighter interstitials for improved toughness; used in medical device components and commonly supplied to ASTM F136.
  • Commercially pure grades — commonly per ASTM F67 (surgical applications) or B348/B265.

A certificate of conformance (CoC) is available on request, confirming the parts were made to your drawing and the specified material. The MTR documents the material’s actual properties; the CoC documents the build.

What this means for aerospace parts

We machine R&D and non-flight-critical prototype parts only — not flight-critical components and not production flight hardware. We make no aerospace certification claims. What this means for medical parts

We provide machined parts for non-implantable medical devices and surgical instruments only. We don’t take permanent-implant orders and make no implant-grade certification claims. Implantable hardware requires a validated, approved manufacturing chain. See medical device components.

When we’ll say no

The honest part of our compliance position is turning work down. If a run needs a certified facility or a capability we don’t have, we refer you instead of over-promising. That’s a guarantee too — you never get a part from us on a claim we can’t back.

You don’t hire us for a certificate; you hire us for accountable, traceable, drawing-conformant titanium parts from a single engineer.
